About Thinking Through Practice

Thinking Through Practice is a student-led, artist research collective at Nottingham Trent University. Through a series of discussions, symposiums, exhibitions and performances we are exploring what artistic practice-as-research can be within the context of a PhD.

The artist research collective is designed for Fine Art and Live Art PhD Students who are conducting their research through practice. Artists studying PhD's at NTU will be able to use this as a platform to experiment with a number of modes of presentation, to disseminate and discuss their practice and to receive constructive critical feedback from this supportive network.

It will also highlight parallels and differences in undertaking a practice as research methodology, highlight the commonalities and challenges of artistic research, and provide the artists with a supportive framework for exchange and a network for dialogue and sharing of practice in the disciplines of Fine and Live Art.

This will take place through a series of symposiums that are flexible in their site, content and structure, to accommodate for the different modes of dissemination preferred by each artist.

This blog will be used by the TTP artist research collective to map documentation of each symposium and to share links to research resources.
